Five Ways to Gain your Confidence

Five Ways to gain Confidence in the Modeling Industry

Appearing confident and self-assured while navigating the industry can seem like a difficult task with many professionals to impress.Ā

Here are five ways to gain Confidence in the modeling industry.Ā

Ā

#1 Be always prepared!

Before agreeing to any casting or modeling opportunity, it is essential to do your research. Find out about the company, venue, and travel route. More knowledge about a fashion show or photoshoot will make you confident about the task ahead.

Prepare your outfit the night before. Plan your method of transport and set your alarm in plenty of time to get ready in the morning. An organized approach to your life and modeling career will allow you to be more confident in scenarios that naturally bring nerves. It may help to compile a list to help remember your plan, as disorganization breeds unsettledness.

Ā

#2 Positive Mind

It is essential to not focus on negative thoughts and embrace all the positive features of yourself and your life. Dwelling on rejection and pessimistic thoughts will lead you to insecurity and self-doubt. However, positive thinking will bring Confidence and high self-esteem that will radiate from you and show in each step of your career. Push all self-critical comments to the back of your mind and refuse to let them dominate your day.

Sometimes, pretending to feel a certain way can turn into a reality and allow you to face your fears head-on. Entering a casting with a smiling, happy face will make you appear mighty rather than meek and shy. You will feel proud of your accomplishments after ensuring your confidence levels are much higher. All fashion models and industry experts have felt unconfident at some point in their life. However, they do not let it stop them from achieving their goals.

Ā

#3 Self Care is a mustĀ

Getting up in the morning, dressing in your favorite outfit, applying your make-up, and styling your hair will boost your confidence and body confidence.Ā

Sometimes you may feel like working from bed and in pajamas. However, it will make you feel low after a couple of hours. Therefore, push yourself to get showered and dressed. Being well dressed will raise your perception of yourself and transfer your feelings from negative to positive when attending a meeting or photoshoot that induces nerves to put on your favorite outfit and style your face and hair. Trust me. It will make you feel much more confident, especially after a rejection or a setback in your career.

Ā

#4 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others!

Remember, the unique selling point about you are you. You're original. Embrace it. The worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others on social media or at fashion weeks, for example. Be yourself and enjoy it. Trying to copy others or putting yourself down will make you feel less confident as you're trying to be someone you're not.

Always remember posts on social media, including supermodels, are edited versions of themselves. So, avoid looking at posts and wishing your life was as rosy as theirs because, trust us, they will have low self-esteem days too. Also, unfollow those that make you feel low, only keeping the accounts that bring you joy.

#5 Gain Experience

If you're new to the industry, you will feel out of your depth and nervous. With experience and time, you will enjoy modeling jobs and building Confidence. A bit of nerve is a good way to avoid becoming too complacent. However, the more catwalk shows you walk in at New York and LA Fashion Week, the more self-assured you will become. First times are always scary. The unknown makes us feel unsure, unsafe, and doubtful. But remember, that happens to everyone. You have what it takes.Ā
